According to our president, Denise Flickinger, “There was a clothing store called Rubins. Several others also. There was the Woodie and also one called the Warren, which may have been one and the same over time. Dixon’s was the bakery , but several others also existed. But in my time I only remember Dixon’s. That would be the 60s.”

Thomas and Elizabeth Reese (Rees) that came in about 1860. I see occupation as “keeping grocery store” in an 1880 census. Do you have any record. My great grandmother was Jennie Reese born in Apollo about 1876. Do you have any birth records or could lead me to here exact date of birth. Thank you so much! Trying to piece my family history together. Please contact me at smrollins@earthlink.net
    Thank you – Maryann

I’m looking for where I can find information on the company AS Wolfe Photography that was located in Apollo. I recently came into photos and want to research them.

Hi Jackie, I read on Facebook that someone found Wolfe Photography in Lower Burrell and later in Apollo. Still finding nothing at the museum.
Thank you for your interest in the AAHS.

Sorry I’m just getting back to you, Rachel…I just missed your question. We do have some info at the museum about the bottling company. If you are on facebook, the site “I Just Want To Remember Apollo…” had some great info. The AAHS facebook site may also have some photos, but I’m no longer there. I’ll see what I can find.

Do you have any pictures showing D.A. Stevens Jewelry Store-before the town decided to make a shopping center in the middle of the town and then a picture of the Jewelry Store after the construction. My uncle owned the store.. I actually stayed every summer with them

Was there a bakery named Apollo Baking Company? I was just looking for info on it since it showed up when I was looking into history of my father’s family.

Hi Lori, Here is an ad that was in the Apollo High School yearbook in 1923. Haven’t seen anything else yet but will keep an eye out. Sue

The reason I was asking questions about the Apollo bakery was due to this obituary I found when looking into my grandparent Henry Haase  this came up and since I would have only been a year old when this happened I was shocked to not know and unfortunately my Dad passed a few years ago and most of his siblings have also passed.  I am just thrilled that baking runs on both of the family…  Obituary for Mary Daisy Newingham (Aged 88)
